Hyperliquid HYPE Gains as U.S. Expansion and AQAv2 Take Focus

Hyperliquid HYPE
  • HYPE stock is trading at $87.318 and is showing a bullish technical position with support from important EMAs.
  • HYPE moved above $72.870 and its US-based platform may be faced with a lesser number of markets and leverage.
  • AQAv2 brings USDC yield for the HYPE buybacks and will make its first payment on October 3.

Hyperliquid HYPE has maintained a bullish market structure after rebounding from the $80 area and moving above $84, with the token trading at $87.318 and gaining 2.21% on the day. The token is up 4.1% over the week, according to the provided market data.

The move has kept attention on Hyperliquid’s technical structure, a potential U.S. derivatives expansion and a new AQAv2 mechanism that is expected to create an additional source of HYPE buybacks.

Hyperliquid HYPE Holds Above Key EMAs

The daily chart shows Hyperliquid HYPE trading substantially above its major exponential moving averages. The 20-EMA stands at $79.133, while the 50-EMA is positioned at $70.905. The 100-EMA and 200-EMA are at $64.592 and $56.422, respectively.

The difference between those averages has created a stacked pattern, as EMAs appear above other averages. The upward slope of the shorter averages accompanies the recent price advance.

HYPE also moved decisively above the $72.870 Fibonacci level identified from its earlier pullback structure. The break places the token in price discovery based on the supplied chart analysis. Highs and lows have become progressively higher, but $51.141 is also recognized as a broader support level.

Hyperliquid HYPE Faces U.S. Regulatory Constraints

A reported plan to bring Hyperliquid’s crypto derivatives technology into the United States could involve a separate entity designed to meet domestic regulatory requirements.

Under the proposed framework, Kraken’s parent company would develop a U.S. product based on Hyperliquid’s underlying technology through CFTC-regulated exchange Bitnomial.

The proposed structure would include mandatory Know Your Customer procedures and institutional-grade custody protections. These measures would form part of the framework for operating the derivatives platform within U.S. regulatory requirements.

The domestic version would differ from the global platform. U.S. traders could have access to fewer asset markets and substantially lower leverage limits.

Changes involving both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission could take up to a year to complete.

The proposal has also faced opposition from incumbent financial institutions. CME Group CEO Terry Duffy has opposed wider retail access to crypto perpetual futures, describing the instruments as dangerous. CME Group has also filed a lawsuit against the CFTC concerning its regulatory approvals.

AQAv2 Adds a New HYPE Buyback Source

Hyperliquid’s AQAv2 structure introduces another mechanism connected to HYPE purchases through the Assistance Fund. The first AQAv2 payment is scheduled for October 3.

Previously, the Assistance Fund largely relied on trading fees for its HYPE purchases. Under AQAv2, the mechanism also involves USDC collateral held on the platform and generating yield before being used by traders.

Hyperliquid’s perpetual market uses USDC collateral extensively. Under the AQAv2 arrangement, Circle serves as the technical deployer for USDC on Hyperliquid, while Coinbase serves as the treasury deployer.

Hyperliquid has stated that AQAv2 allows stablecoins that are not exclusive to the chain to qualify as aligned quote assets. The structure also shares the vast majority of reserve yield with the protocol.

This creates a second source of funds for HYPE purchases alongside trading fees. The October 3 payment therefore represents the first scheduled payment under the new AQAv2 structure.
